About your LEGO passion
How did you get into building with LEGO bricks, especially building your own creations?
Initially, I started building with LEGO bricks from a young age at my grandparents’ home. I would get dropped off there by my parents so they could work, and that’s when I had access to LEGO bricks.
What kind of creations do you love building the most, and why?
I became interested in LEGO Bionicle sets and that’s where I really found my joy in building. Bionicle laid out the foundation for all my builds as there were so many interesting characters to draw inspiration from. The titan-sized characters are what I enjoy building the most. They allow me to use lots of parts in unique ways because of their size.
If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring LEGO builders, what would it be?
If there is any advice I can give, it would be to have an idea of what you want to build, find a unique part that aligns with that idea and build out from there. Almost all the builds I create originate from one single part. I typically like to give that one element a prominent place in the build.
How does it feel to have your work exhibited here at LEGO House - Home of the Brick?
Being able to showcase my builds at LEGO House is a dream come true. I’ve been sharing my creations online for about 5 years at this point and have a great community of people to share my builds with. Having a place for people to see them in person is so incredibly cool and I’m very grateful for this opportunity.
What’s next for you in your LEGO journey—any upcoming projects or dreams?
I hope to keep building when I can make time for it in the future. The Bionicle community is still going strong.
Do you have a personal LEGO portfolio website or social media profile that you can share?
Everything I build is uploaded to my Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/king_nack/. Feel free to check it out!
About your LEGO creation(s) on display
Title
The Voiceless Dragon
Can you describe your model and what it represents?
This is the largest creation I have made to date, and while I haven’t fully developed a story behind it, its inception does not stem from titans but my other interest, which is large kaiju-like monsters. Godzilla was a huge part of my childhood and being able to use Bionicle to create a monster of my own is amazing.
How long did it take you to build?
This creation took by far the longest for me to build as I spent at least a year on it before I posted the final shots. It has gone through some tune-ups since then, in preparation for its display.
Approximately how many LEGO elements did you use?
Judging how many LEGO elements were used in this creation is tough as it is very large. However, I would give a safe estimate of 3000 parts in total.
Are there any hidden details, Easter eggs, or techniques used that fans should look out for?
The use of the flexible tube elements was the most impactful. They allowed me to achieve the shape of the neck, the details along the sides of the body, and helped tremendously with the tail.
Title
The Grand Spear
Can you describe your model and what it represents?
This is the tallest creation I have built, and it is intended to be wielded by a titan I had not yet finished at the time of writing. I wanted to make something that can be used by both Bionicle and people. It is far sturdier than anything else I have built.
Approximately how many LEGO elements did you use?
It is made using around 500 LEGO elements in total.
Are there any hidden details, Easter eggs, or techniques used that fans should look out for?
The main structure is almost entirely built using LEGO Technic liftarms, with the outside being detailed with silver Bionicle elements
