How did you get into building with LEGO bricks, especially building your own creations? I have a lot of siblings and we loved building with LEGO bricks together. My brothers and I had two big plastic tubs full of all our bricks and as we didn’t frequently receive new sets, we would create our own designs. Building together, often one or two of us would be tasked with finding elements for what another was working on. Then as a teenager I discovered AFOL forums and was hooked on creating and sharing MOCs.

What kind of creations do you love building the most, and why? Castle has always captured my interest, and it was a castle forum that I first joined when discovering the online community. Sci-fi is another theme I keep returning to. Especially vehicle designs, whether spaceships or ground craft.

If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring LEGO builders, what would it be? Building is like any other skill; it takes practice and dedication to master. Don’t be frustrated if your ideas don’t translate to bricks as you like at first, and enjoy when things do click well!

How does it feel to have your work exhibited here at LEGO House - Home of the Brick? It’s a special honor, and after being hired by The LEGO Group I had not expected the opportunity to have any of my personal creations featured here.

Title Snowbound Serenity

Can you describe your model and what it represents? There is something incredibly peaceful about a cozy home where you feel welcome. Yet creating that atmosphere often requires overcoming various obstacles.

This brave traveler in a wintry steampunk world won’t let anything stop him from returning home.

How long did it take you to build? Around three weeks for the house with landscape. Then another two weeks making all the smaller scenes.

Approximately how many LEGO elements did you use? A rough guess would be 4,000 to 5,000.

Are there any hidden details, Easter eggs, or techniques in your model that fans should look out for? Lots of interesting parts contribute to the steampunk aesthetic of the home: everything from gears and Bionicle elements to accessory packs from Super Heroes.

Icy water is accomplished using a sideways layer of transparent bricks with dark blue bricks underneath.
